Xbox accidentally confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass

Xbox Accidentally Confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for Game Pass

Xbox appears to have mistakenly revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Game Pass on the first day of release. Speculation about Xbox’s inclusion of the Call of Duty brand in its subscription service has been rampant since Microsoft closed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and a significant announcement could be on the way.

Exciting news for Call of Duty fans

Fans took to X (previously Twitter) to publish a notification from the Game Pass app informing users that Black Ops 6 will be available on Day One later this year—with the banner reading “just revealed.” There has been no official confirmation yet, however, Windows Central’s Jez Corden responded to the tweet, stating that it “should be officially revealed this week.”

Xbox will host a large event as part of Summer Games Fest on June 9, followed by a Call of Duty presentation. This appears to be the most likely period for confirmation of the Game Pass inclusion. Although the announcement is not surprising given that Xbox typically adds day one launch titles to Game Pass, it comes at a time when the corporation is facing widespread criticism.

Impact on Xbox Console Ownership

Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there have been numerous layoffs at a variety of studios. A shift in strategy also resulted in formerly exclusive titles like as Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves becoming available on PlayStation. This generated speculations of more Xbox platform exclusive titles coming to the competitor PlayStation, leaving players wondering if buying an Xbox console is still desirable. Including Black Ops 6 in the Game Pass subscription will undoubtedly persuade some players to stay put.

No release date for Black Ops 6 has been announced yet, but based on prior release dates, the next Call of Duty title should arrive around October or November 2024.
