New features in CoD multiplayer with Black Ops 6: ‘omnimovement,’ updated HUD, and more to be revealed in August

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Revamps Franchise with Classic Prestige Mode and New Features

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is shaking up the franchise by reintroducing the classic Prestige mode, alongside new features such as the ability for players to sprint or dive in any direction, and a customizable HUD.

Exciting New Prestige System Unveiled

BO6 will debut with 10 Prestige levels, each adorned with unique icons. Additionally, a Prestige Master mode will unlock an additional 1,000 levels of progression once the initial 10 Prestiges are completed. Unlike past games in the series, the full Prestige system will be accessible on launch day, freeing it from seasonal content drops.

Introducing Omnimovement for Enhanced Gameplay

During Prestiging in BO6, players will encounter the new “omnimovement” mechanic. This innovative system enables seamless sliding, sprinting, and diving in any direction simultaneously, providing unparalleled freedom in player movement.

Activision claims that Treyarch’s question during development, “What if you could sprint in any direction?” is where the idea of omnidirectional movement originated. This led to the implementation of an engaging prototype that not only allows sprinting but also sliding and diving in various directions, opening up a plethora of new movement possibilities for players.

Customizable HUD and 1990s Setting

Moreover, the multiplayer HUD in BO6 will undergo a transformation, offering players the freedom to customize elements such as radar placement and killfeed, enabling them to tailor their multiplayer experience to their liking. Set in 1991, Activision promises an array of diverse weapons in the game, emphasizing the gritty world of covert operations prevalent during that era.

The development team adopted a “tool for every job” approach, incorporating a wide range of military-grade and unconventional weapons reflective of the characters’ unconventional procurement methods. This results in a unique arsenal that blends traditional military gear with more improvised weaponry.

BO6‘s multiplayer mode is scheduled for a complete reveal at this year’s Call of Duty Next event on Aug. 28, promising an in-depth look at the game’s multiplayer features and gameplay.
