Riot takes action against Latin American casters for racist remarks

Riot Games removes casters from Latin American broadcast after racist comments

Riot Games has taken action after two casters on the Latin American broadcast of the 2016 All-Stars Event made racist comments during the official broadcast last night.

Former player Diego “Vendetta” Ramirez and caster Bastian Guzman were heard mocking Chinese speech patterns while discussing the performance of SK Telecom T1 jungler Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong.

Riot’s LAS broadcast manager, “Catador”, posted an apology on Reddit and announced that the pair had been removed from the broadcast team for the remainder of the event.

“We’d like to apologize for the comments made on the LAS broadcast earlier today,” said Catador. “We’re extremely disappointed in the behavior of those two casters and have removed them from the remainder of the broadcast. This kind of language is unacceptable and we apologize to all of our fans, players, and teams.”

Riot has a history of taking action against racism. In the past, Team SoloMid jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen was suspended for four matches of the World Championships for using a summoner name that was similar to one used on the Taiwanese server.
