OG Secures Third Dota Major Title in Boston

OG Claims Their Third Dota Major Title in Boston

OG, the reigning champions of Frankfurt and Manila, secured their third Dota Major title in Boston by defeating the underdog challenge of Ad Finem. Despite being heavily unfavored, the Greek side put up a strong fight but ultimately lost to OG in the final with a score of 3-1.

OG started strong, winning the first two games comfortably in under 45 minutes. It seemed like they were on track to claim the title. However, Ad Finem fought back in an intense marathon game that lasted almost 80 minutes. This rookie team, who had never been to a Major before, displayed their brilliance by upsetting their opponents consecutively in the bracket stage.

In this game, OG had the advantage but Ad Finem won crucial team fights and began breaking down OG’s base. Despite OG being down to just their Ancient, it took 20 minutes for Ad Finem to secure the win. The momentum was in Ad Finem’s favor, but OG, with their experience, seized the opportunity by wiping out the enemy team at the 26-minute mark and forcing Ad Finem to concede just 12 minutes later.

A Repeat of Group Stage Clash

This result mirrored the outcome of the team’s clash in the group stage. OG defeated Ad Finem 2-1, securing the top spot in their group. Although Ad Finem only managed to secure third place after splitting a pair of games with EHOME, they made an impressive run by defeating Newbee, LGD.ForeverYoung, and Digital Chaos, which led them to an unexpected appearance in the finals.
