Christie Golden Laid Off by Blizzard Entertainment
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that best-selling novelist Christie Golden, who had been working with the company for decades, has been laid off. Golden, known for her work on projects such as World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Overwatch, was a core member of Blizzard’s story development team.
Success within the WoW Franchise
Golden’s most notable success came from her contributions to the World of Warcraft franchise. She was involved in the development of some of the earliest Warcraft novels, including Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde. Her character-focused novels, such as Arthas: Rise of the Lich King and Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War, were highly acclaimed by fans.
Affiliation with Blizzard Ends
Golden revealed on social media that she has not been affiliated with Blizzard since January. Her announcement came as a surprise to many, as she has had a close relationship with the company for almost 25 years.
New Opportunities on the Horizon
Despite the layoff, Golden remains positive about her future. She expressed her gratitude for the experiences she had with Blizzard, which allowed her to become a bestselling author and gain new skills and opportunities. While she would be open to working with Blizzard again, she sees this as a chance to explore other ventures in her career.
Golden’s announcement of the layoff coincided with a personal tragedy, as she also lost her nephew. Taking time to process these life-altering events, she decided to share the news of her departure from Blizzard.
As Golden moves forward, she is optimistic about what lies ahead. While her time with Blizzard has come to an end, she views this as an opportunity to embrace new challenges and build upon her accomplishments.
