Fnatic grants sOAZ permission to communicate with other teams before free agency

Fnatic Allows sOAZ to Explore Options with Other Organizations

Professional League of Legends player Paul “sOAZ” Boyer announced on Twitter that he has been granted permission by Fnatic to enter into discussions with other teams. As of November 19, sOAZ will become a free agent, signifying the end of his two-year tenure with Fnatic, a team he joined in December 2016.

sOAZ’s Long History with Fnatic

Although sOAZ’s most recent stint with Fnatic lasted two years, his connection to the organization runs deeper. Back in June 2012, when he was just 18 years old, sOAZ initially signed with Fnatic. Despite changes in the team’s roster, sOAZ remained with Fnatic for two and a half years. During that time, Fnatic achieved three consecutive EU LCS split playoff titles and reached the semifinals of Worlds 2013.

After leaving Fnatic in 2015, sOAZ joined Origen for two years before eventually returning to Fnatic. With Fnatic, sOAZ achieved two more top eight finishes at Worlds, including a second-place showing in this year’s tournament.

sOAZ’s Future Beyond Fnatic

Despite Fnatic’s recent success at Worlds 2018, it seems that sOAZ will not be part of the organization’s future as it transitions to the new EU LCS franchising league system. However, sOAZ is expected to have numerous opportunities, especially with the reported entrance of five new teams into the EU LCS in 2019. These teams include SK Gaming, North, Rogue, Movistar Riders, and Astralis, and it’s possible that sOAZ may lead one of these teams’ inaugural rosters from the top lane.
