G2 Esports’ Rekkles Dominates LEC Spring Split
When Rekkles made the decision to join G2 Esports during the offseason, it caused a major stir in the competitive League of Legends scene. In his first split with the perennial European champions, the 24-year-old veteran ended the 2021 LEC Spring Split as the league leader with an impressive 12.6 KDA.
Superstar Performance
The superstar AD carry not only had 101 kills at the end of the regular season but also had the fewest deaths in the LEC with 18, according to Gamepedia. Rekkles’ exceptional play was instrumental in G2’s successful season, and he will continue to be a driving force for his team in the postseason.
Achieving Record-Breaking KDA
This is the first time since 2018 that a player has achieved a double-digit KDA during the regular season. In the 2018 Spring Split, Rekkles showcased his skills with a 13.5 KDA, 88 kills, 13 deaths, and 88 assists while playing for Fnatic. That season, Fnatic went on to defeat G2 in the Spring Split finals and claim their sixth championship.
Challengers to G2’s Throne
Other KDA leaders in the LEC include Rogue’s Larssen, Odoamne, and Hans Sama, according to Oracle’s Elixir. Rogue’s roster has shown consistency throughout the season and has been one of the few teams capable of challenging G2’s dominance.
With only two weeks left before the start of the playoffs, G2 is preparing for their first-round matchup against Broken Blade and Schalke 04. If they emerge victorious, they will then face the winner of the Rogue vs. MAD Lions series.
Don’t miss all the action when the LEC playoffs kick off on Friday, March 26.
