Guide to Catching the 2019 LEC Spring Split Playoffs

The Exciting Playoffs of the League of Legends European Championship Are About to Begin

The highly anticipated playoffs for the new-look League of Legends European Championship (LEC) are set to start, with six teams vying for the Spring Split title.

Over the course of three weeks, these teams will compete on Summoner’s Rift, battling it out for large cash prizes, the championship title, and the opportunity to represent their region at the Mid-Season Invitational in Vietnam.

Where to Watch

For fans eager to catch the action, all the LEC matches can be viewed on the official Riot Games Twitch channel. You can watch the games live from the link provided above.

The Participating Teams

In the Spring Split playoffs, six teams have qualified based on their performance in the regular season. These teams include G2 Esports, Origen, Fnatic, Splyce, Vitality, and SK Gaming.

The Schedule

The 2019 Spring Split playoffs are divided into four rounds. The first round will take place on March 29-30, followed by the second round on April 5-6. The semifinals are scheduled for April 13, and the final match will determine the ultimate champion on April 14 in the Netherlands.

How the Playoffs Work

The playoff system for this year may be a bit confusing. In a single-elimination tournament, the top two teams from the regular season will receive a bye into the second round. Each match will be a best-of-five series, and the last team standing will win the championship and earn the chance to represent the LEC at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational.

Fnatic, who finished third in the regular season, has the privilege of selecting their opponent, Vitality, for the first round of playoffs. The remaining first-round match will feature SK Gaming and Splyce.

In the second round, the winners of the previous matches will face each other. Additionally, the first and second seeds will compete, with the winning team securing a bye to the finals. The losing team will then face the winner of the other second-round match in the semifinals for a chance to reach the finals in the Netherlands.
