ZETA DIVISION Keeps Japan’s Hopes Alive for VCT Masters Tokyo by Defeating Team Secret

The VCT Pacific League Enters its Sixth Week of Play

The VCT Pacific League is currently in its sixth week of league play, with Asian VALORANT teams competing for a chance to enter the playoffs. With only three weeks left, teams are battling to secure their positions in the standings.

The first day of matches on Saturday provided some clarity on the league standings. While the top teams maintained their positions, it became evident which team sits at the bottom and the implications it has on the rest of the standings.

After the playoffs, the top teams will advance to Tokyo for the VCT Masters in June. This major event will be the first of its kind in Japan, which is an exciting prospect for VALORANT fans.

Although the Japanese VALORANT scene is growing rapidly, only two teams represent the country in the VCT. However, only one of these teams still has a chance of playing on the Tokyo stage in June.

ZETA DIVISION, known for their previous strong performances, had a shaky start in the 2023 Pacific League. However, they managed to secure a significant win against Team Secret, a team competing for a playoff spot.

ZETA DIVISION has struggled with their initial map performances, which even their team member, SugarZ3ro, acknowledged as their biggest weakness. However, they have shown great potential in their series against Team Secret.

On the other hand, Detonation FocusMe (DFM), the other Japanese team in the league, is unlikely to make it to the playoffs. With the worst record in the VCT across all three leagues, their chances are extremely slim.

DFM’s playoffs probability was already extremely low going into this week, and their close loss to T1 further diminished their chances. Even if they miraculously made it, they would have to surpass several other teams to secure their spot in Tokyo.

Prior to this week, ZETA’s chances of making it to the playoffs were at around 70%, just below Team Secret’s odds. The tight competition between the two teams makes ZETA’s win on Saturday crucial for their chances of representing Japan in June.

The VCT Pacific League will continue tomorrow, with Gen.G from Korea facing off against Global Esports from India.
