YaBoiDre resigns from Luminosity, explores new opportunities

Diondre “YaBoiDre” Bond Announces Departure from Luminosity Gaming

Professional esports player Diondre “YaBoiDre” Bond, known for his skills in VALORANT, has revealed that he is now a restricted free agent and will no longer be a part of Luminosity Gaming’s active lineup.

A Former PUBG Pro Finds Success in VALORANT

YaBoiDre, who previously competed in PUBG, made the switch to Riot Games’ popular first-person shooter in April 2020. He joined Luminosity Gaming in February 2021 after being acquired from beastcoast. During his seven months with the team, he established himself as one of their top players. However, the team was unable to qualify for notable VALORANT competitive events, including VCT Masters and the VALORANT Champions. The announcement of YaBoiDre’s departure comes just one week after Luminosity’s top-eight finish in the VCT North American Last Chance Qualifier.

YaBoiDre clarified on Twitter that the decision to part ways was mutual between him and the team. He emphasized that he was not moved to the bench. Going forward, YaBoiDre expressed his desire to play as a flex or support player, as opposed to mainly playing as Jett and Raze, which he had done for the past 90 days, according to statistics from VLR.gg.

Following YaBoiDre’s departure, Luminosity Gaming’s lineup now consists of Alex “aproto” Protopapas, Kaleb “moose” Jayne, Will “dazzLe” Loafman, and Tanner “TiGG” Spanu. Luminosity, like many other VALORANT teams, will be focusing on rebuilding their roster in preparation for 2022, as there are currently no scheduled VCT events in the near future.

With no imminent events on the horizon, Luminosity will have time to conduct tryouts to find a replacement for YaBoiDre.
