XSET’s VALORANT Roster Released, Players Given Opportunities for 2023 Exploration

XSET Releases VALORANT Roster Ahead of 2023 Season

Several organizations that did not qualify for franchising are now making moves to address their player contracts. The latest team to do so is XSET, who has released its entire VALORANT roster in preparation for the upcoming 2023 season.

As part of this release, analyst Drew “DrewSpark” Spark-Whitworth and coach Don “Syyko” Muir are also no longer associated with XSET.

Within the roster, Zachary “zekken” Patrone and Brendan “BcJ” Jensen have been released from their contracts, while Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban has been transferred to 100 Thieves for next year. Jordan “AYRIN” He and Rory “dephh” Jackson, on the other hand, are currently unrestricted free agents.

XSET has not disclosed any plans for the next year since they did not secure a partnership with Riot for the 2023 season. It remains uncertain whether XSET will assemble a roster for the tier-two scene in the Ascension tournaments or if they will exit the VALORANT competitive scene altogether.

Despite the uncertainty, XSET had a successful year and finally qualified for an international event. While they fell early in the Masters Copenhagen tournament, they performed admirably in the Champions tournament, finishing fifth-sixth. Only OpTic, who lost to LOUD in the grand final, advanced further than XSET among North American teams.

Although Cryocells has found a new team with 100 Thieves, no other XSET members have officially announced their new affiliations. Recently, there were reports that Syyko may be joining Sentinels, but the team has not made an official announcement at the time of writing.
