XSET surprises Version1 with unexpected map pick in victory

XSET Secures Victory Against Version1 in LAN Tournament

XSET emerged triumphant with a 2-0 win over Version1 in a thrilling match that left fans on the edge of their seats.

XSET showed no signs of slowing down as one of the early teams to play in the LAN tournament held in Los Angeles. Despite the tournament being shifted to an online format after the first day of play, XSET had ample time to prepare for their next matchup.

According to Bryce “PureR” Lovell, who was interviewed by after the match, all teams had extra time to practice. However, XSET felt they were at a disadvantage compared to other top teams like 100 Thieves, LG, and Gen.G because those teams had more visibility into strategies and map preferences.

The first map of the match was Bind, a map that XSET historically avoided. Surprisingly, they chose to play it first and secured a 7-5 lead at halftime. Although Version1 had the opportunity to stage a comeback after switching sides, they couldn’t muster the momentum to secure rounds. XSET eventually clinched the map with a comfortable 13-7 scoreline.

In a post-match interview, Jordyn “AYRIN” revealed that XSET had a discussion and ranked the maps they wanted to play. There was some debate regarding Bind, but they ultimately decided to play it since they knew Version1 wasn’t strong on that map.

Next up was Icebox, a map that XSET had been working on despite mixed results in the past. Their efforts paid off as they swiftly secured a 13-4 victory.

The match reached its climax when PureR unleashed his Jett ultimate and eliminated three Version1 members, sealing XSET’s win and eliminating Version1 from the tournament.

Looking ahead, XSET has a match against Cloud 9 in the lower bracket, but they remain confident. PureR believes Cloud 9’s play style is similar to Version1 and expects a similar outcome. However, he acknowledges that the next match may present a tougher challenge depending on the maps chosen.

The winner of the XSET vs. Cloud 9 match will advance to the lower bracket final, with a chance to secure a spot in the Champions tournament in December.
