XSET and DarkZero battled fiercely in VCT Challengers 3, delivering an exciting match that ended in a 2-1 victory for XSET. XSET emerged victorious with scores of 13-9 on Icebox and Breeze, while DarkZero secured a 13-10 win on Ascent.
A thrilling comeback by DarkZero falls short
The final map of the series, Breeze, began strongly for XSET. Led by Bryce “PureR” Lovell’s impressive performance with the Operator, XSET dominated the first half and secured an 8-4 lead. However, DarkZero fought back valiantly, narrowing the gap to just one round behind XSET at two points.
zekken’s game-changing play seals XSET’s victory
Despite the intense competition, it was Zachary “zekken” Patrone’s clutch 1v2 play that stole the show. Patrone executed a flawless defuse, taking down the lurking DarkZero players and securing the round win for XSET. This pivotal moment put XSET on map point and allowed them to close out the match.
Qualification for XSET, a challenging journey for DarkZero
With their 2-1 victory, XSET qualifies for the closed portion of Challengers 3. To bypass the open bracket in the next Challengers event, XSET will need an outstanding performance in the closed bracket. DarkZero put up a strong fight but will have to navigate the open bracket once again. However, they can take solace in knowing that the initial stage of Challengers 3 is the most difficult.
