XSET emerges victorious against LG in intense match at VALORANT’s Last Chance Qualifier

XSET Secures Win in Last Chance Qualifiers, Advances to Face 100 Thieves

In a thrilling match, XSET and Luminosity Gaming clashed in the second match of North America’s Last Change Qualifiers, vying for the final NA spot in Champions.

Luminosity Gaming dominated on Haven, as evidenced by the lopsided 13-2 scoreline. Despite being XSET’s map pick, they struggled to make any impact. Tanner “TiGG” Spanu’s aggressive playstyle disrupted XSET’s strategies and caught them off guard, leaving them constantly under pressure.

After their loss on Haven, XSET’s IGL Rory “dephh” Jackson faced a daunting challenge as they moved on to Ascent, a map known as LG’s “bread and butter.” Despite the setback, dephh and the team had to regroup and focus on the task at hand.

In a post-match interview, dephh acknowledged their mistake in choosing Haven and expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back. “We’re definitely not scared to play Haven again, we’re going to pick it,” he stated.

XSET gained an early advantage on Ascent, but LG managed to secure a few rounds and prevent any snowballing. The first half ended 8-4 in favor of XSET, and their confidence grew with each round they won. Bryce “PureR” Lovell and Brendan “BcJ” Jensen impressed with clutch plays, turning the tide in rounds that seemed to be slipping away. XSET ultimately triumphed with a 13-8 victory, advancing to the third map.

On Split, both teams traded rounds in quick succession. LG initially claimed the first round, but XSET answered back with four consecutive wins. However, LG rallied and secured the next six rounds, giving them a 7-5 lead at halftime. XSET came back rejuvenated after the break, determined to turn the tables. Despite losing the first post-break round, which was not unexpected considering their poor performance in pistol rounds, XSET regained their momentum.

After losing the pistol round, XSET bounced back and won four straight rounds, dropped two, and then closed out the last four rounds to secure a 13-10 victory, winning the match 2-1.

XSET’s next challenge was a face-off against 100 Thieves, as they sought to move forward in the Last Chance Qualifier and secure the final NA spot in Champions.
