XQc’s Close Call with a Scam During Attempt to Purchase His Own VALORANT Team

Streamers Like Disguised Toast and Ludwig are Picking Up VALORANT Rosters in North America

An ongoing trend in the esports world is streamers forming their own professional VALORANT teams. Names like Disguised Toast and Ludwig have already made their moves, and it seems that the king of Twitch himself, xQc, wanted to join them. However, xQc’s journey to find a team wasn’t without obstacles.

xQc expressed his interest in signing a VALORANT roster right after Disguised Toast picked up a team for the NA Challengers League Split One in January 2022. His goal was to form a team that could rival Disguised Toast’s squad. Unfortunately, his search didn’t yield the results he had hoped for, and Ludwig beat him to the punch.

During a recent livestream, xQc shared his experience, saying, “I contacted a team to buy, way ahead of Ludwig to sign a team. They had already found a sponsor and I said ‘yo guys I want to buy a team.’ The other DM I got was from a bunch of low Silver crypto scammers and that’s it. Nobody else, nobody DMs me again.”

At this point, it’s uncertain if xQc is still pursuing the idea of buying a roster for the NA Challengers League. The tournament’s third week is set to conclude today, leaving only two more weeks before the group stage ends and the best teams move on to the Challengers Mid-Season Invitational.

With the clock ticking, xQc has limited time to make his move and potentially poach a team from the NA Challengers League Split One. The only team attending the tournament without a sponsor is Turtle Troop, the same team that recently spoiled the debut of Ludwig’s BreakThru roster under the Moist Moguls banner.

If xQc is still interested in joining his fellow streamers on this trend, it’s more likely that he’ll have to wait for Split Two.
