XERXIA Esports Upsets OpTic Gaming at VCT Masters Reykjavík
XERXIA Esports achieved a surprising victory against OpTic Gaming in the second Group B opening match at VCT Masters Reykjavík.
XERXIA dominated the early rounds of Icebox, taking a 4-0 lead before OpTic could secure their first round win. Despite OpTic’s efforts to retake the A site, XERXIA consistently outplayed them. Yay’s stellar performance couldn’t save OpTic as XERXIA continued to push aggressively and secure rounds.
The momentum shifted in the second half as OpTic made a comeback, winning crucial rounds and leveling the score to 7-5. However, XERXIA quickly regained control, overpowering OpTic with a series of well-executed plays. A nail-biting round 17 saw XERXIA narrowly escaping defeat and eventually securing their map pick, winning the match 13-10.
XERXIA Holding Strong Against OpTic on Ascent
In the second map, OpTic managed to secure the first pistol round but faced fierce resistance from XERXIA. While OpTic took the lead in rounds seven, XERXIA displayed their exceptional teamwork and stopped OpTic’s attempts to conquer the A site.
OpTic called for a timeout in hopes of regaining control, but XERXIA continued their dominance by winning the next four rounds. Sushiboys showcased his skill in round 11, successfully defusing the spike without OpTic realizing it.
The second half saw OpTic making a strong defense, preventing XERXIA from gaining too much ground. However, XERXIA’s tenacity paid off as they clinched the victory in round 23, securing a 2-0 series win against OpTic.
XERXIA to Face Team Liquid in Group B Winner’s Match
XERXIA’s impressive performance has earned them a spot in the Group B Winner’s match against Team Liquid. On the other hand, OpTic Gaming will have a chance for survival if they can defeat KRU Esports in the Group B Elimination Match on April 12.
