X10 Allegedly Exploits Cypher Spycam Bug in SEA VCT Stage 3: Challengers Playoffs, Similar to Giants’ EU VCT Penalty

VALORANT Esports: X10 Esports Exploits Cypher Spycam Bug in SEA VCT Playoffs

The VALORANT esports scene, despite being just over a year old, is facing a familiar issue. X10 Esports used a Cypher Spycam exploit in their SEA VCT Stage Three: Challengers Playoffs match against Galaxy Racer. This same bug caused a one-map loss for Vodafone Giants in July’s EU VCT Stage Three: Challengers One open qualifier.

By placing the Spycam on a glitched awning on Breeze’s A site, the Cypher player gains an advantage as they can see any enemies walking through the entrance. Since the camera is not visible to attackers, it cannot be destroyed until it has already provided crucial information to the defending team.

In their match against Galaxy Racer, X10’s Yuttanagorn “Zues” Kaewkongyai placed the Spycam on the glitched awning in the final round. This allowed them to identify the enemy Jett as she crossed the site’s threshold. X10 went on to win the round, the match, and eventually the series with a 2-0 score.

Fans have shared a screengrab of an alleged ruling from a tournament organizer stating that X10 will be penalized in their next series. However, the official VCT channels have not yet made an announcement. X10 is scheduled to continue their SEA VCT run tomorrow against Team Big BAAM.

In a similar incident, Bref had demanded the disqualification of Giants from the EU VCT open qualifiers after they reportedly used the exploit in at least six out of twelve rounds. Riot issued a competitive ruling a few days later, resulting in a one-map loss for Giants in their next match. This ruling was based on rule 7.2.6 of the VALORANT Global Competition Policy.

Riot has explicitly stated that intentionally exploiting any in-game bug for an advantage is strictly prohibited. This includes using any game function that, according to the Tournament Operator’s judgement, is not functioning as intended and violates the design purpose of VALORANT.
