When will VALORANT’s Competitive mode see the arrival of Sunset?

Sunset map arrives in VALORANT with Episode Seven, Act Two

VALORANT players will now have the opportunity to explore the game’s latest map, Sunset. This new map, set in Los Angeles, features a beautiful golden hour backdrop and area-inspired elements such as a boba shop, food trucks, and a skate park. The map’s design truly captures the charisma of the city.

The Sunset map was officially launched in Episode Seven, Act Two, through Patch 7.04 on August 29. However, it will not be immediately available in ranked or casual games. As is customary with new map releases, players will have the chance to learn about Sunset’s unique features and adjust to the new meta before it is added to the Competitive and Unrated queues.

So, when can players expect to see the Sunset map in VALORANT’s Competitive mode? Let’s take a look at the map’s release schedule in Episode Seven, Act Two.

Release date for Sunset map in Competitive and Unrated modes

Riot has provided a timeframe for players to familiarize themselves with the Sunset map. This will give everyone ample opportunity to learn and adapt to the new map.

Starting from August 29, VALORANT will have a dedicated Sunset-only queue for one week in Episode Seven, Act Two. Matches in this queue will follow the Swiftplay format and will be short, with the goal of securing five rounds to win. Players can choose their favorite agent and experience the map immediately.

This trial phase will conclude with Patch 7.05, which is scheduled to be released on September 6. From that point onwards, players can expect to see Sunset in their ranked, unrated, and other queues with the next update.

Riot mentioned in the Patch 7.04 notes that the Sunset-only queue will only be available in Swiftplay mode for one week before it joins the Competitive and Unrated map rotation in Patch 7.05.

During this week, developers will use the neutral phase to address any game-breaking glitches that may arise with the launch of Sunset. Meanwhile, players can warm up and devise strategies for the map.

On the other hand, Breeze, another iconic map in VALORANT, will be reintroduced to the map pool in Episode Seven, Act Two. Breeze will be available in all game modes, including Competitive and Unrated, with the release of Patch 7.04.
