VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023 Includes 2 Chinese Teams Invited to Complete 32-Team Tournament

VALORANT LOCK//IN Tournament in São Paulo Adds Two Additional Teams

The upcoming VCT LOCK//IN tournament in São Paulo, scheduled to commence next month, has expanded its lineup with the inclusion of two more VALORANT teams.

The highly-anticipated VCT LOCK//IN tournament will begin on February 13th and conclude at the beginning of March. With the addition of the two Chinese teams, the tournament will now feature a total of 32 teams.

Details of the Tournament

This international event is regarded as the first of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) season 2023. VALORANT Champions Tour tweeted a comprehensive guide about the LOCK//IN Brazil event. You can find it here.

EDG and FPX Leading the Charge

EDward Gaming (EDG) and FunPlus Phoenix ZHUQUE (FPX) will be joining the tournament as the top two teams from China. These teams previously clashed in the FGC VALORANT Invitational 2022: Epilogue tournament, with FPX emerging victorious with a 3-1 win over EDG in the grand final.

Exciting Matchups Await

During the tournament, FPX will be facing off against Karmine Corp in the first round, while EDG is set to play against 100 Thieves.

Past Performances and Transitions

EDG participated in the VALORANT Champions last year, marking the first time a Chinese team competed in an international VALORANT tournament. However, they were unable to secure a victory against Paper Rex and Team Liquid.

As for FPX, they previously had a European roster but faced challenges securing a partnership with Riot Games to compete in the EMEA international league. As a result, FPX shifted its focus to its Chinese roster and later transferred its core to Natus Vincere.

Conclusion

The addition of two more teams from China has heightened the excitement surrounding the VCT LOCK//IN tournament in São Paulo. Fans can look forward to fierce competition and thrilling matchups as teams from around the world converge to prove their dominance in the realm of VALORANT.
