VCT Americas MVP Aspas becomes a free agent with potential for any superteam

VALORANT MVP aspas Becomes Free Agent, Seeks New Offers

Eyes were on VCT Americas MVP aspas when player contracts ended for all franchised VALORANT teams in 2023. Today, aspas confirmed that he is now a free agent and is open to offers from teams worldwide.

aspas, who chose not to renew his contract with LOUD starting on Sept. 11, made his decision public in a video posted on Twitter. In the video, he mentioned that he is fluent in both English and Portuguese, which expands his options significantly.

aspas emerged from the Challengers scene in Brazil and joined LOUD, quickly becoming a standout player. His outstanding performance as a duelist, especially on Jett, played a key role in LOUD’s rise to dominance in the region.

LOUD dominated the Brazilian competition and secured a second-place finish at their first international tournament in 2022. They went on to win Champions 2022, with aspas being named the finals MVP in their victory over OpTic Gaming. However, their performance in the following year’s international events was not as successful. Despite some questionable decisions, LOUD remained a top regional team, finishing third at Champions 2023.

aspas’ decision to become a free agent has sparked speculation about his future. With his ability to speak English, he has the potential to join teams in other regions, such as EMEA and the Pacific.

However, concerns have been raised about aspas’ performance. Similar to Jacob “yay” Whiteaker, who faced challenges during his free agency in late 2022, aspas’ best agent, Jett, may be falling out of the meta. Nevertheless, he has experience with other agents like Raze and Neon.

Although these agents may not have the same impact as Jett, aspas’ unique movement skills can still be utilized with Raze’s Blast Packs or Neon’s High Gear. His aim and training in using Raze’s ultimates can easily transfer over. The only limitation is that he won’t be able to replicate the smoking and dashing tactics that made him famous without teamwork.

As the off-season progresses, it remains to be seen which teams will make offers to acquire aspas. Potential contenders include 100 Thieves, NRG, and Pacific-based teams like Bleed. Despite the Jett nerfs, there is no doubt that teams are eager to sign this top-tier talent.
