Cloud9 Blue Advances to VCT Champions Playoffs
Cloud9 Blue has secured a spot in the playoffs of VCT Champions after a hard-fought victory against Vision Strikers in a three-map series. This makes them the first team from North America to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
Confidence and Caution from C9’s In-Game Leader
C9’s in-game leader, Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, is optimistic about their chances in the playoffs but remains cautious of repeating past mistakes.
Reflections on Group Stage Performance
In a conversation with , vanity discussed C9’s performance in the group stage, specifically their initial loss against Fnatic. He admitted that the team was overly concerned with Fnatic’s strategies and not focused enough on their own gameplay.
“Against Fnatic, we were trying to analyze a team that hadn’t played any official matches. So we were relying on limited information and making educated guesses. However, Fnatic did an excellent job of changing up their gameplay,” vanity explained.
Praise for Fnatic and Focus on Mid-Game Adaptation
Vanity commended Fnatic and their in-game leader, Boaster, considering him one of the top IGLs in Berlin. Vanity emphasized the importance of decisiveness in an effective leader.
Unlike a counter-stratting IGL, C9’s captain prefers to concentrate on his team’s strategies and strengths while adapting mid-game. He stressed the need for the team to avoid overthinking their strategy against Team Liquid in the quarterfinals.
Excitement for the Playoffs
Vanity expressed satisfaction with the playoff bracket and pride in how the team has performed thus far, especially with Leaf and Xeppaa making their official LAN debuts.
“We have been improving steadily throughout the tournament. Both Leaf and Xeppaa, despite being newcomers to LAN events, have seamlessly integrated into the team, providing valuable communication and ideas,” vanity said.
Upcoming Match Against Liquid
C9 will now prepare to face off against Team Liquid tomorrow at 2pm CT.
