VALORANT’s 2023 VCT Championship promises record-breaking prize pool

VCT Champions 2023: The Biggest Prize Pool in VALORANT History

VCT Champions 2023 is the highlight of the first year of franchising in VALORANT. It has been a year filled with thrilling games, surprising upsets, and the reign of Fnatic coming to an end or reaching its peak. Along with captivating stories, the final tournament of the year offers a prize pool that is more than double what previous years had.

The official prize pool for the VALORANT Champions 2023 tournament is a whopping $2.25 million USD. This makes it the largest prize pool in the history of VALORANT. In comparison, Champions 2021 and 2022 had a total prize pool of $1 million for all participants. However, the winners of 2023 will take home a staggering $1 million, while other teams will receive significantly higher amounts based on their finishes.

The Prize Pool Breakdown for VCT Champions 2023

To provide context, here is a breakdown of how the money will be distributed in the Champions 2023 tournament:

– First place: $1,000,000
– Second place: $400,000
– Third place: $250,000
– Fourth place: $130,000
– Fifth-Sixth place: $85,000
– Seventh-Eighth place: $50,000
– Ninth-12th place: $30,000
– 13th-16th place: $20,000

This ensures that every team qualifying for Champions 2023 will receive at least $20,000, with the opportunity to earn up to a million dollars. However, only the top four spots will have their own unique rewards, as teams will be eliminated during the group stage and playoffs.

The New Record Prize Pool and Additional Revenue

The impressive prize pool is just the beginning, as there will be another source of revenue from the event. As is customary for the Champions tournament, a special skin will be available in the VALORANT store. Part of the proceeds from this skin will be contributed towards the participating teams. This tradition started in 2021 with the Champions Vandal and continued in 2022 with the Champions Phantom and butterfly knife.

There is a possibility of seeing a Champions Operator or a bundle of multiple skins like the Champions Shorty and Champions Spectre. Regardless, a significant portion of the revenue generated from these skins will support the competing teams. In the past two years, half of the bundle’s proceeds were allocated to the squads, with the 2022 bundle raising over $16 million USD for the competitors.
