Ranked Distribution in VALORANT: Here’s What You Need to Know

Fortunately, there are other websites that track and share this information, giving us an overview of the distribution of ranks in VALORANT.

Compared to the official Riot graph from the summer of 2021, there are more players in Bronze and Silver now, while Gold and Platinum ranks have slightly fewer players. This aligns with Riot’s goal of adjusting the ranked distribution to have a healthier spread of players in each rank. It’s worth noting that the top ranks still have significantly fewer players, but this is expected in a highly competitive game like VALORANT. Overall, the distribution forms a bell curve, which is a positive sign for the game’s competitive balance.

It’s worth mentioning that compared to recent acts, more players are currently in the lower ranks (Iron, Bronze, and Silver) while fewer players are in the higher ranks (Gold, Platinum, and above). However, this could be because it’s still early in the episode, and players typically start in lower ranks after completing their placement matches.

According to a dev diary from August 2021, the VALORANT development team acknowledged the imbalance of lower-ranked players and expressed their desire to address this issue. Their objective was to reduce the number of players in Silver and ensure players are placed in the ranks that suit their skill level. The current ranked distribution shows progress towards this goal, with Silver becoming more aligned with Bronze and Gold ranks.
