VALORANT professionals demand removal of “fraud” Evil Geniuses from VCT following LCS departure

Riot’s VALORANT Pros Longing for Evil Geniuses’ Departure Following LCS Exit

Evil Geniuses’ recent announcement of their departure from the LCS has sparked a desire among pros in Riot’s competitive game, VALORANT, for EG to exit that scene as well. This comes despite EG’s world championship win just a few months ago.

Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, a member of Sentinels, took a shot at Evil Geniuses on Twitter, asking Riot to also remove them from the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT). Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, IGL for Cloud9 and the Americas VALORANT Players Association, retweeted and supported Zellsis’ tweet.

Zellsis is not the only pro to call out Evil Geniuses. Former NRG captain Pujan “FNS” Mehta also used the term “fraud” when bantering on Twitter with Kelden “Boostio” Pupello, who works with EG.

This negative sentiment towards EG within the VALORANT community is not solely due to their LCS exit. News has emerged that after winning the trophy at Champions 2023, EG informed its players that they would have to take a pay cut or find another team. These headlines have not portrayed EG in a positive light.

It is uncertain whether EG will continue competing in VALORANT. A report by Richard Lewis stated that EG wanted to continue competing in Riot titles, but with their exit from LCS, it seems they are no longer involved in competitive League of Legends at all. Rumors suggest EG is still trying out players for the next year, but if today’s LCS announcement is any indication, the players and coaching staff might be the last to know about any changes in plans.

has reached out to Riot for further comment regarding EG’s involvement with VALORANT.
