VALORANT Players Urge for Ranked Reset Amidst Unfair Matchmaking Stranding Bronze with Ascendant

Low-ranked Solo Queuers Facing Unfair Matchmaking in VALORANT

Players in low ranks of VALORANT are being matched against players in much higher ranks, resulting in imbalanced lobbies. This issue has gained attention and sparked discussions about the need for a matchmaking rating (MMR) reset. A recent Reddit thread on September 17 has brought this problem to light.

One notable incident involved a match where players from five different ranks were placed on the same team. The two highest-ranked players were queuing together, while everyone else was a solo player.

The Ascendant player, being the highest rank in the lobby, dominated the match effortlessly. This incident has led players to request changes from Riot Games regarding rank-based matchmaking.

The VALORANT community has suggested that an MMR reset might be necessary to address the rank disparity issue. Although this could result in significant rank changes for players, it could potentially solve the problem.

Another suggestion from the community is to reveal players’ hidden MMR ranking alongside the current RR (Rating Rank) system. Currently, only the RR is visible to players, while the MMR remains unknown.

Both the MMR and RR are considered when placing players in matches, which could explain why such imbalanced matches occur.

This mismatched matchmaking brings together players with different mentalities and attitudes towards the game. A relaxed Bronze player may not be compatible with an Ascendant player aiming for the highest rank in VALORANT.

Players have criticized the current matchmaking system, referring to it as “broken.” They believe that Riot Games needs to investigate and address the underlying causes of these matchmaking issues. Otherwise, lower-ranked players will continue to be overwhelmed by higher-tier players.
