VALORANT players raise concerns over Vanguard anti-cheat system’s impact on PC performance

Be cautious about VALORANT’s new anti-cheat system

If you’ve been playing the VALORANT closed beta or are considering giving it a try, there is an issue you should be aware of. Over the past few weeks, many people in the community have encountered various PC problems due to Riot Games’ new anti-cheat system, Vanguard.

According to reports from players, these issues can range from blocking important devices to complete computer shutdowns. Some users have faced problems where Vanguard prevented essential programs from running on their computers.

For example, one user mentioned that Vanguard blocked their usage of MSI Afterburner, a program used to check CPU temperatures. Another player shared that the anti-cheat system actually prevented control of their keyboard and mouse, and rebooting the computer in safe mode was the only way to regain control.

The most severe cases have resulted in complete computer crashes, with some players encountering blue screens of death due to the new program. Vanguard starts running as soon as your PC boots up, rather than only during gameplay. It conflicts with various programs without distinguishing between important and non-essential ones.

These problems have led players to uninstall VALORANT for now, out of fear that their computers might be damaged. Even those who have not experienced any issues yet are uninstalling the game as a precaution. It’s not worth risking someone’s entire PC to keep the anti-cheat installed.

Riot will need to address these issues promptly to prevent further loss of its player base.
