VALORANT player discovers an easy trick to determine the ideal sensitivity for aim training

Improve Your Aim in VALORANT with This Handy Mouse Sensitivity Trick

When it comes to becoming a better VALORANT player, improving your aim is essential. One player recently shared a simple trick on Reddit to determine if your mouse sensitivity is hindering your ability to aim accurately.

In an April 18 Reddit thread, a player shared an easy method to check if your sensitivity is too high and affecting your aim. This is a common mistake for beginners in shooting games.

A Quick Test to Determine Mouse Sensitivity

The player suggests heading into the firing range and performing a test. Start by placing your mouse at the far left of your mousepad, then move it all the way to the right and take note of how many 360-degree turns you make in-game with this motion.

According to the player, “That should, theoretically, only do a 360-degree motion.” The user discovered that their sensitivity was too high when they performed over six turns in one flick. They were advised to lower it down, even though it might feel weird and take some time to get used to.

This test can help you find the sweet spot where you can make large movements with small flicks of your mouse while still maintaining precision for smaller motions.

Adjusting Sensitivity: Too Low or Too High

If you can’t make at least a 180-degree motion with a full sweep of your mousepad, it means your sensitivity is too low. In a VALORANT match, it’s important to remain reactive, and if you can’t turn around in one swift motion, you won’t be able to react quickly if flanked by enemies.

On the other hand, if you find yourself making too many full turns with one flick, your sensitivity is too high. In most circumstances, a low sensitivity offers better precision than a high sensitivity.

Pro Tips: Playing with Forearm and Finding the Right Sensitivity

Professional players often recommend playing shooting games using your forearm rather than just your wrist. This allows for better motion control and is more ergonomic. However, to achieve this, you need a low mouse sensitivity. Finding the right sensitivity also depends on the size of your mousepad and your mouse DPI.

It’s worth noting that personal preference plays a role in determining your mouse sensitivity. Some pro players prefer playing with very high sensitivity. However, it’s always recommended to give a lower sensitivity a try and get used to it before considering readjusting to a higher one.
