VALORANT Patch 6.08 Enhances Shorty with a Long-Awaited Makeover

Patch 6.08 Brings Visual Rework to VALORANT’s Shorty Weapon

Today, on April 25, Patch 6.08 is hitting VALORANT with a range of changes. Among them is a visual rework for the Shorty, a niche gun that may have flown under your radar. Alongside the return of Bind to the map pool and adjustments to Killjoy and Gekko, the Shorty has received a sleek makeover.

The Shorty has always been seen as a toy-like weapon due to its low price and limited ammunition. If you’ve completed Killjoy’s agent contract, your Shorty even sports cute designs from the Wunderkind skin. While not particularly useful, it does have its moments with specific agents in certain scenarios.

Despite its shortcomings, the Shorty holds a special place in the VALORANT weapon family. Now, it has received a much-needed visual upgrade.

The improved design gives the default Shorty a sleeker and more refined look, allowing it to visually match other VALORANT weapons. Riot Games has made it clear that this is a purely visual change and will not affect the gun’s performance in any way. Here’s a comparison with the old version of the weapon:

The new design of the Shorty adds depth to certain areas of the gun while smoothing out others. The grip of the handle is less defined, but the chamber’s hinge is larger and more noticeable. Additionally, the barrel is slimmer, and the trigger is larger.

Riot has also updated several skins to accommodate the new design of the Shorty. These updates affected skins with intricate barrel designs, which had to be adjusted due to the slimmer design.

Here are the six skins that have received updates with the Shorty’s new design:

  • Default
  • Wunderkind
  • Sidekick
  • Karabasan
  • Prism II
  • Doodle Buds

Despite the visual improvements to the Shorty, players may question the need for this change. The developers of VALORANT state that the main reason for adjusting the visuals of the Shorty and its skins is to bring them up to par with the appearance of other weapons.

The Shorty may be the weakest gun in the game, but it shouldn’t be the ugliest one as well!
