VALORANT Patch 3.07: Changes to Viper and the Removal of Peeker’s Advantage
The latest VALORANT patch, Patch 3.07, brought some minor changes to the character Viper. One notable change was the removal of the peeker’s advantage when players stayed inside her Poison Cloud as it dissipated.
Understanding Peeker’s Advantage
In VALORANT, peeker’s advantage is a mechanic that gives the player who is peeking an angle a slight advantage over an enemy holding the angle. This mechanic is designed to provide players with a fighting chance when peeking difficult angles, and it can have a significant impact, especially in high-level play.
However, players had noticed that they had a peeker’s advantage when they remained inside Viper’s Poison Cloud as it disappeared. The animation would vanish for players standing inside the smoke before it dissipated for players outside the cloud, giving them a roughly 350-millisecond advantage. While this may seem like a small amount of time, it can make a difference in competitive settings. It’s important to note that this was not an intended feature, and Riot Games has addressed it in Patch 3.07 to remove the peeker’s advantage.
The Impact of the Change
This change is good news for players who were tired of losing fights against a hiding Viper, but it’s bad news for those who abused this unintended advantage. While this change may not seem significant in the grand scheme of things, it is a welcomed adjustment for many players.
Other Changes in Patch 3.07
Aside from addressing Viper’s peeker’s advantage, Patch 3.07 also made adjustments to Viper’s wall, causing it to inflict the decay debuff on enemies moving through the top part of the wall. Additionally, there are no longer penalties for leaving a Deathmatch early, which slightly improves the warmup experience for players.
