“VALORANT Guide: Mastering Pearl Callouts

Riot Games Introduces Pearl, the New Underwater Map for VALORANT

Riot Games has unveiled the latest addition to their popular first-person tactical shooter, VALORANT. The newest map, called Pearl, immerses players in an underwater setting that seamlessly blends futuristic architecture with traditional buildings adorned with beautiful Portuguese-inspired art and murals.

Pearl offers a refreshing change from previous map releases, as it takes a simpler approach without the inclusion of activatable doors, ascenders, or teleporters. With two sites and three lanes, the map exudes a classic tactical shooter feel that should resonate with veteran players.

Despite its simplicity, Pearl has its own unique flair to keep players engaged. Its sprawling alleyways, two long sight lines, and diverse elevations create an environment where players must carefully navigate and document every area as they strategize for future matches.

While the game doesn’t explicitly specify every area on the map, players will develop their own callouts. For example, the elevated B tower area might be referred to as “heaven,” while the path leading to the site underneath could be called “hell.” This naming convention is commonly used when there is a major elevated area on multiple sites.

In addition, a small alcove at B main could be referred to as “B cubby,” drawing inspiration from previous games where “cubby” denotes a small hiding spot in a choke point.

Furthermore, each site will have a designated spot known as “default,” which serves as the typical planting position for attackers. It will be essential for players to familiarize themselves with this default spike plant position when Pearl becomes available on live servers.
