V1’s Zellsis suspended from VCT due to ‘inappropriate’ remark towards tournament official

VALORANT Player Zellsis Suspended from NA VCT Third Stage

VALORANT player Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro has been suspended from the upcoming NA VCT third stage, according to a competitive ruling from Riot Games and VALORANT Esports.

In a ruling released on June 11, Riot stated that Zellsis violated rule 7.1.2 of the Global Competition Policy, which requires players to maintain integrity and good sportsmanship. The violation occurred during the team’s player check-in and rule review session on May 28, during VCT Masters Two Reykjavík, when Zellsis made an offensive and discriminatory remark about a tournament official.

Both Version1 (V1) and Zellsis have accepted the ruling and expressed regret over the incident, apologizing to Riot staff. They will play Challengers One with a substitute. Any further violations could result in longer suspension or loss of prize money and VCT circuit points. Zellsis also offered a personal apology on Twitter to Riot staff and his teammates.

V1 had already competed at Reykjavik with a substitute, and it is unclear if they will bring in the same substitute, Jamal “jammyz” Bangash, or pursue a different option.
