Experienced VALORANT players have shared some quick and easy tips for improving game sense, especially for beginners who may feel overwhelmed by the game’s mechanics.
VALORANT players recently shared what they believe are important “game sense rules” that everyone should keep in mind to increase their chances of winning. Many of these tips focus on ultimates and post-bomb plant strategies.
1) Know the status of enemy ultimates
Being aware of the enemy’s ultimate abilities is crucial. The “ult economy” plays a significant role in how teams approach each round. By keeping track of the enemy’s ultimates, you can predict their next move.
For example, if you notice that an enemy only needs one more ult point at the start of the round, they may prioritize capturing an Ult Orb. Use this knowledge to your advantage and try to make a play while they are occupied.
2) Keep track of opponents’ ultimates
Similarly, if you know the enemy has available ultimates, find ways to work around them. For instance, when facing Brimstone’s Orbital Strike ultimate, instead of trying to stick the defuse, tap the bomb and move away to avoid being caught in the blast. Being aware of specific ultimates helps you anticipate what may happen during the round.
3) Use smoke to defuse the bomb
To increase your chances of winning rounds after the bomb is planted, consider smoking the bomb to provide cover while defusing it. Aim to get the defuse at least halfway. This can give the enemy fewer opportunities to land shots through the smoke and increases your chances of successfully defusing the bomb.
4) Don’t assume someone is faking a defuse
If you’re on the attacking side in a post-plant situation, don’t assume that someone is faking the defuse. Don’t fall for mind games. Instead, jiggle or jump peek to check if the enemy is still defusing after a tap. This small action can often force the enemy to stop defusing, even if you don’t shoot at them. By playing smart and wasting the enemy’s time, you can win the round when the bomb detonates.
