Understanding VALORANT Premier: A Comprehensive Guide to Playing, Building Teams, and More

VALORANT Premier: A New Competitive Game Mode for Dedicated Teams

In the world of VALORANT, competition is key. Two teams battle it out to prove their skills and come out on top. While ranked playlists exist for players to face similarly skilled opponents, some teams crave an even more competitive environment. Introducing Premier, the new game mode that caters to these dedicated teams.

VALORANT Premier offers a tournament-style system for teams looking for a more intense gaming experience. It serves as a path-to-pro mode, allowing players to form five-person teams and compete in a highly competitive environment, surpassing the traditional ranked mode. From 2024 onwards, Premier will become the primary entry point to professional VALORANT through VCT Challengers events.

When does Premier launch in VALORANT?

Premier mode officially launched on August 29, 2023, at the start of Episode Seven, Act Two. The first season, known as Launch Stage, had a one-week enrollment period followed by seven weeks of gameplay, with each week dedicated to a different map.

Accessing Premier is simple. Players can find it in the main menu of VALORANT under the Play button.

To participate in Premier, players must complete SMS verification for their accounts, have an account in good standing with Riot, and have finished rank placements at least once.

Teams in Premier will be divided into different skill divisions: Open, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and Contender, based on the average skill level of the team’s top five players.

Before the start of weekly matches, there is an enrollment period for players to form teams. Players can either create their own team with five to seven members or join an existing team.

If you miss the enrollment period, you won’t be able to participate in the season. However, new players can be added to teams during the season as long as they don’t cause the team to change skill divisions.

There are no rank restrictions for players. Teams with players at similar or different ranks will be placed in a skill division based on the top five players’ MMR. During enrollment, teams must select their region, and they will receive server recommendations based on the lowest average latency.

How can I go pro in VALORANT through Premier?

Starting in 2024, Premier will pave the way for players aspiring to turn pro in VALORANT.

In Episode Eight, Immortal 3 players will have the opportunity to qualify for the highest Premier division, Contenders. Qualifying for Contenders will be a requirement for signing up or competing in regional VCT Challengers open qualifiers.

If your team doesn’t succeed in the open qualifier, you can still compete in Contenders for the Premier season. Contenders teams that perform well in the final playoffs will have the chance to participate in a promotion/relegation tournament, which can lead to promotion into their regional Challengers league.

Premier rewards in VALORANT

Players who play at least one Premier match during the Launch Stage will earn a player card. Additionally, members of the division playoff tournament-winning teams will receive a unique gun buddy and a player card.

Players will also earn crests for playing two matches in a week, with the chance to earn the illustrious Flawless Crest by playing and winning every game in a season.
