Unbelievable Turnaround Propels KRÜ Esports to VCT Champions

KRÜ Esports Defies Expectations, Secures Spot in VALORANT Champions Tour

KRÜ Esports, despite going winless in the regular season, shocked the esports community with an impressive run at the VALORANT Champions Tour Americas’ Last Chance Qualifier. They emerged victorious over Leviatán on July 23, earning a spot in this year’s VCT Champions.

Counted out by everyone, KRÜ Esports exceeded expectations by defeating notable teams such as MIBR, FURIA, Leviatán (twice), and top seed Cloud9. Their path to success was unexpected, but they took down every team in VCT Americas one by one.

KRÜ had already defeated Leviatán in the upper-bracket semifinals, but after Leviatán’s surprising reverse sweep against fan-favorite Cloud9, anything was possible.

The grand finals between the two LATAM teams went to four maps—Split, Pearl, Ascent, and Lotus. Leviatán managed to claim only one map in the series, while KRÜ dominated the rest, showcasing their strength and ability to adapt.

Key player Angelo “keznit” Mori led KRÜ throughout their extraordinary 5-0 run, emerging as the star of the grand finals. His outstanding performance earned him the MVP award, accumulating an impressive 73 kills in the series.

“It’s a dream come true,” said KRÜ captain Marco “Melser” Amaro after the match. “We knew we were capable of achieving this.” MVP keznit added that playing alongside the core KRÜ team, who have been together for almost a year, was a “spectacular” experience. Keznit had joined KRÜ in March after being benched by Leviatán, making his victory against them even more satisfying.

Looking ahead, KRÜ has secured their spot at VCT Champions and will face Paper Rex in the group stage. Paper Rex, despite playing without their star player, Ilya “something” Petrov, had an impressive run in Tokyo. With something set to return at Champions, KRÜ will have another significant challenge ahead to continue their winning streak.

The group stage of VCT Champions, live from Los Angeles, California, will begin on August 6.
