TSM knocks out Sentinels in exciting Ludwig x Tarik Invitational with promising performances from both teams

Nearing Conclusion of Ludwig x Tarik Invitational: Meet the Grand Finalists

The Ludwig x Tarik Invitational, one of the first high-profile VALORANT invitational tournaments of 2023, is approaching its grand finals. Two tier-two teams will face off for the title in this exciting event.

Today, Sentinels, a franchised North American team, was eliminated from the lower bracket after a 0-2 loss to TSM. Interestingly, Sentinels had previously defeated TSM 2-0 in the same tournament.

Although Sentinels lost today, it’s important to note that they have had limited practice time as their main focus is the upcoming VCT season, which begins in about a month. Despite their loss and a few mistakes, the individual players on the Sentinels roster showed incredible skill. On the other hand, TSM also demonstrated their prowess with their revamped roster, seamlessly fitting into the tier two scene in North America.

Leading up to the match, there was some playful banter on Twitter from zekken. However, Sentinels seemed a bit rusty with their new roster and coach.

Nevertheless, the Sentinels players showcased their raw skill and mechanics on Fracture. Caster Sideshow even referred to them as “pANcada and friends,” reminding viewers of the team’s acquisition of TenZ in mid-2021 when they were known as “TenZ and friends.”

Interestingly, the disappearance of the Chamber meta has also brought about a change in TenZ’s gameplay. Instead of focusing on topping the leaderboard, TenZ played as KAY/O and performed exceptionally well, providing crucial support to his teammates.

The first map of the match for Sentinels was noticeably slower compared to their usual aggressive strategy. This change in pace made the match feel longer than it actually was. While star players like pANcada, TenZ, and zekken performed as expected, dephh seemed a bit lost on Cypher. However, playing a control or sentinel agent successfully without sufficient team practice can be challenging.

On the TSM side, the roster displayed great coordination, crisp rotations, and efficient trades for fallen teammates throughout both maps. Ultimately, TSM’s style proved superior against the heroics of pANcada, TenZ, and zekken.

Moreover, with no Jett on the opposing side, Corey was able to shine.

Sentinels CEO Rob remained optimistic despite the team’s loss, expressing his support during the broadcast. The casters, including Ludwig himself, commended Sentinels for participating in the tournament despite limited practice.

The grand finals, scheduled for tomorrow, will feature two North American tier two teams: The Guard and TSM. The close competition between the tier two and VCT scenes in North America, following the chaos of franchising in late 2022, continues to impress.

Fans are eager to see what Sentinels can accomplish in the main VCT. Meanwhile, The Guard and TSM will compete in the grand finals of the invitational today, on Jan. 16, at 6pm C.T.
