TSM and Wardell cordially end their partnership

TSM announces Wardell’s departure from VALORANT lineup

Matthew “Wardell” Yu is no longer part of TSM’s VALORANT lineup, as announced by the organization today. The team is relocating to Texas for practice and competition, but the 23-year-old player did not agree to move.

VALORANT holds significant importance for TSM, and they have been involved since its inception. The organization is determined to build a championship-winning roster, which requires commitment, alignment with a competitive vision, and a desire to work together to elevate the team.

Wardell has been a member of TSM’s lineup since May 2020 when the North American organization entered the professional VALORANT scene. Throughout his time with the team, he consistently proved to be one of the top players and helped secure victories in various tournaments, including North America VCT Stage Three Challengers Two in August 2021, T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown in June 2020, and the FaZe Clan Invitational in August 2020.

In response to the announcement, Wardell expressed his gratitude on Twitter, acknowledging TSM for pulling him out of a difficult phase and giving him a fresh start. It remains unclear whether he is now a free agent or still contractually bound to TSM.

Following Wardell’s departure, TSM’s VALORANT lineup consists of Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik, Aleko Gabuniya, Corey Nigra, and Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo.
