This is how a VALORANT expert’s Deathmatch exercise will revolutionize your gameplay by teaching callouts.

Improving VALORANT Communication with Woohoojin’s Training Regimen

Do you ever find yourself struggling to remember the location where you died in VALORANT? It’s a common problem that can lead to embarrassing comms slip-ups. But don’t worry, there’s a solution.

Practicing Callouts and Comms

For new maps like Lotus or Split, mastering callouts and comms can be challenging. Simply studying the layout isn’t enough. You need to practice your voice chat reflexes to ensure you can effectively communicate in the heat of the moment.

VALORANT coach Woohoojin recognized this issue and developed a training regimen to help players communicate faster and more efficiently. The key? Playing Deathmatch and following a specific protocol for comms.

The Training Regimen

According to Woohoojin, during Deathmatch, every time you engage in a fight with an enemy, hold your push-to-talk button and say the following: location, Agent name, and any damage if you die. For example, if you dealt 50 damage to Reyna on catwalk in Ascent before dying, you would comm, “cat, Reyna, they’re 50.” This fast-paced exercise will make callouts second nature.

If you struggle with location comms, Woohoojin advises playing even more Deathmatch until you’re comfortable. The goal is to reach a point where you can effortlessly make these comms.

The Importance of Quality Communication

In addition to the training regimen, Woohoojin also emphasizes the importance of quality communication during matches. Ordering teammates around and micromanaging can hinder team cohesion. Instead, focus on communicating utility usage, rotations, and enemy sightings during a round. Shot calling should be reserved for pre-round comms, unless urgent situations arise.

When you need to direct a teammate in such situations, Woohoojin suggests politely asking if they can accommodate your request. This approach fosters a helpful and supportive environment.

Improving your communication skills is just as important as honing your aiming abilities in VALORANT. By following Woohoojin’s training regimen and practicing efficient comm protocols, you can become a more effective and valuable team player.
