The Victors and Losers of the Recent VALORANT Patch 5.07

VALORANT Patch 5.07 brings exciting changes to the game that will shake up the meta. Let’s take a look at who benefited and who lost out in this latest update.

Winners: Skye and KAY/O teammates

Players queuing with Skye or KAY/O will be pleased with the changes to their flashes. Skye’s Guiding Light can no longer be destroyed and its duration scales with charging time, allowing duelists to blind defenders more effectively. KAY/O’s overhand flash has also been improved, making it more viable to throw deep flashes.

Losers: Solo queueing Skye and KAY/O players

However, players who prefer to play selfishly will struggle with these changes. The duration of quick flashes for both agents has been reduced, making them less effective as individual playmakers.

Winners: Reyna instalockers

Reyna players will be thrilled with the improvements made to Leer. Riot has made Leer’s effects equip faster and removed its range restriction, greatly enhancing Reyna’s potential for quick and aggressive plays.

Losers: Operators holding long corridors against Reyna

Operators holding long angles will now have to deal with Reyna’s Leer, as its range restriction has been removed. This means that holding long corridors becomes riskier and requires players to either shoot down Leer, abandon their angle, or take difficult shots.

Winners: Fracture players

The changes to Fracture have simplified the map and provided advantages for both attackers and defenders. Attackers can now safely drop into A site and block off B Generator with smoke. Defenders have improved access to the expanded A Ropes area and face fewer lurkers in their spawn. The changes to Dish also make it easier for both sides to gain control of the area.

Winners: Players with big skin collections

You can now show off your extensive cosmetic collection. Patch 5.07 introduces a “favorites” system for individual weapon skins and other cosmetics. You can even set a “Random Favorite” for each weapon to keep things interesting.
