Team Liquid Dominates KRU Esports in VALORANT Champions Debut
Team Liquid showcased their skills in their debut match in the VALORANT Champions tournament, defeating KRU Esports with a decisive 2-0 victory.
KRU Esports struggled on offense during the first half on Haven, only managing to win four rounds. While they showed some strength by winning three consecutive rounds, Team Liquid quickly regained control. L1NK from Liquid secured an ace in round six, followed by a triple kill from ScreaM in the next round, maintaining their momentum. KRU only managed to win one more round in the half, resulting in an 8-4 scoreline in favor of Liquid.
Team Liquid continued their strong performance in the second half, winning the pistol round and maintaining their dominant offense. KRU struggled to counter Liquid’s onslaught, with TL winning four consecutive rounds and only facing partial resistance in round 17. Liquid sealed the victory in round 18, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second game on Ascent started in favor of Team Liquid, with three consecutive rounds won on offense. Liquid continued to dominate KRU, only dropping three rounds and ending the first half with a 9-3 scoreline.
Despite a strong start to the second half for Team Liquid, KRU fought back by winning four consecutive rounds, including an incredible one-vs-three clutch by Nagzet. However, Liquid managed to break the winning streak in round 18, and KRU’s successful defense in round 19 put them only three rounds behind Liquid.
In round 20, Liquid successfully defended A site despite having limited firepower. This extinguished any hope of a comeback for KRU, and Liquid secured the victory in round 21, closing the series 2-0.
Team Liquid will now face Sentinels in the Group B winners match on December 6 at 8 am CT. KRU Esports will battle for survival in the elimination match on December 5 at 11 am CT.
