Fans Excited to See Gekko in Action
Esports fans are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to witness the capabilities of Gekko, the latest initiator agent in the VCT LOCK//IN tournament. However, popular content creator Tarik is determined not to let Gekko’s adorable Spike-carrying creature have an easy time.
Riot Introduces Gekko in Grand Finals
Riot unveiled Gekko, the newest initiator agent, on the final day of the VCT LOCK//IN. Prior to the start of the grand finals, fans were treated to a cinematic trailer and a sitdown interview with one of the developers, providing insights into Gekko’s abilities. Finally, in a showmatch, fans had the opportunity to witness Gekko in action for the first time.
Gekko’s Abilities in Action
During the showmatch, both team captains, Tarik and FRTTT, selected Gekko on the map Lotus. In the pistol round, FRTTT used one of Gekko’s creature-based abilities, Wingman, and activated the alt-fire ability, sending the creature forward with the Spike.
However, Tarik quickly eliminated Wingman with his Ghost pistol, preventing FRTTT from planting. Although Wingman turned into an orb that could be picked up, no one managed to retrieve it during the first round.
In the second half, Tarik attempted another plant with Wingman but suffered the same fate. However, Tarik’s team adjusted their strategy, clearing out the sites before sending Wingman to plant the Spike, allowing fans a clear view of the adorable minion in action.
Despite the limited time the showmatch players had to explore Gekko’s abilities, they did an excellent job demonstrating the various ways in which his creature-based powers can be utilized.
