Surrender Feature in VALORANT Expected Shortly After Launch

Riot Games to Add Surrender Feature to VALORANT Post-Launch

In an interview with ESPN Esports, game director Joe Ziegler confirmed that VALORANT will not have a surrender feature upon its release. However, executive producer Anna Donlon assured players that this highly requested function will be implemented “very soon.”

AFK Violations Addressed, Surrender Feature Offers Choices

Riot Games has taken action against AFK (Away From Keyboard) violations in VALORANT, resulting in fewer instances of players leaving matches. Despite this, the developers believe that it is important for teams to have the agency to respond to such situations. Therefore, the surrender feature will provide players with options to safely leave or continue playing if unfortunate circumstances arise.

Surrender Feature Potential Similar to League of Legends

Although there is no confirmation yet, it is speculated that the surrender feature in VALORANT will be similar to the option available in League of Legends. In League of Legends, players can call for a surrender vote after 15 minutes on the main map, Summoner’s Rift, and it requires a unanimous vote before the 20-minute mark. After 20 minutes, the requirement drops to 80% of the team.

VALORANT’s Potential for Comebacks

Compared to League of Legends, VALORANT has a higher propensity for comebacks. The round-based nature of the game, combined with maps that may favor offense or defense, creates opportunities for teams to turn the tables even when faced with a significant disadvantage. Proper execution and understanding of the game mechanics are crucial for successful comebacks.

While the surrender feature may not be available immediately, players can still enjoy the new game mode called Spike Rush. This fast-paced mode features a best-of-seven format, where each player on the attacking team has a Spike, and everyone gets a random weapon to use.
