Spike Nations makes a comeback to boost EMEA VALORANT scene through 60,000 euro charity prize fund

The Spike Nations Tournament Returns to Competitive VALORANT

The offseason in competitive VALORANT is filled with exciting events, and one of the highlights is the Spike Nations tournament hosted by BLAST. This annual tournament is considered the closest thing VALORANT has to a World Cup, and it’s set to take place from Oct. 14 to 16 this fall.

The Spike Nations tournament will feature 12 EMEA-based teams consisting of pro players, VALORANT personalities, and popular streamers. Not only is there a prize pool of 60,000 euros, but the winners will also have the opportunity to donate the largest share of the prize money to a charity of their choice.

This year marks the third edition of the Spike Nations tournament hosted by BLAST. In the previous two tournaments, notable teams like Portugal, Spain, and Eastern Europe showcased their skills and competed for the championship title. Talented pro players such as Boaster, Derke, cNed, nAts, and Shao were part of the action.

The format for this year’s tournament remains the same as last year’s. The participating teams will be divided into three groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. Additionally, the two teams that raise the most money for charity through donations, even if they don’t directly qualify, will also have the chance to compete in the playoffs. The participating regional teams include the U.K., France, Spain, Portugal, Nordics, Poland, Turkey, Italy, DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Eastern Europe, and MENA (Middle East and North Africa).

The upcoming offseason in 2022-2023 is expected to be filled with excitement. Team partnerships for 2023 have been announced, roster moves are pending, and a variety of third-party tournaments are scheduled to take place throughout the rest of 2022. In addition to Spike Nations, BLAST has previously hosted the First Strike Europe event in collaboration with Riot in late 2020 and has plans to host its first CS:GO Major in France in 2023.

The Spike Nations tournament will be livestreamed on the BLAST VALORANT Twitch channel starting from Oct. 14.
