Sliggy departs from Team Liquid’s VALORANT lineup.

Team Liquid VALORANT Coach Sliggy Steps Down Following Masters Reykjavik

Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield announced his departure from Team Liquid’s VALORANT roster after Masters Reykjavik 2022, citing a difference in vision and direction within the team.

Sliggy has been with Team Liquid since April 2020 when they were known as fish123. Throughout the 2021 VALORANT Champions tour, Liquid enjoyed consistent success, including a top-four finish at Masters Reykjavik, VALORANT’s first international LAN. However, they did not qualify for Masters Berlin.

Their performance in Reykjavik earned enough circuit points for Liquid to qualify for EMEA’s Last Chance Qualifier, where they emerged as victors, securing a spot at Champions. However, in the semifinals of Champions, Liquid was defeated by eventual winners Acend.

Entering 2022, Liquid was regarded as one of Europe’s top teams. In Stage One, they narrowly missed qualifying for Reykjavik due to a loss against G2. However, due to FunPlus Phoenix’s absence, Liquid received an invitation as their replacement.

Unfortunately, Liquid could not replicate their previous success in Reykjavik. With close losses to LOUD and ZETA Division, Liquid finished in the top eight.

With Sliggy’s departure, Team Liquid will have to search for a new head coach for the first time since their formation. Liquid’s next match is on May 14 against BIG in the opening match of Stage Two.
