Shopify Rebellion Secures Spot in VALORANT Game Changers Grand Final
In a stunning upset victory against Cloud9 White, North America’s Shopify Rebellion moves one step closer to claiming their spot in the VALORANT Game Changers grand final.
The second match of the day pitted Shopify against Team Liquid in a rematch from earlier in the Game Changers tournament. After being defeated by Liquid and sent to the lower bracket, Shopify has been unstoppable, winning every match, including their impressive triumph over tournament favorites Cloud9.
However, Liquid seemed to lack the same level of performance that helped them defeat Shopify earlier in the week. Building on their momentum from earlier in the day, Shopify dominated Liquid with a 2-0 victory.
The first map, Fracture, was a close battle, with Shopify taking an early lead in the pistol round. Despite Liquid’s effort to catch up, trailing by only 7-5 at halftime, Shopify’s teamwork and coordination allowed them to extend their lead on the defensive side.
Naxy, a standout player for Team Liquid throughout the tournament, delivered a strong performance on Fracture, particularly with her expert play as Breach. Despite her individual success, Liquid ultimately lost the map with a score of 22/16/8.
Moving on to Icebox, Liquid’s map pick, Shopify maintained their winning strategy from their victory against Cloud9 earlier in the day. However, a new star emerged in the form of Lorri.
Lorri showcased incredible skill on Sage, skillfully supporting her teammates while consistently landing precise shots on her opponents.
Although Liquid faced a significant deficit after a 9-3 first half, they remained composed, with Naxy once again playing a crucial role for her team. However, the absence of bstrdd, who had previously delivered exceptional performances as Jett for Liquid, was felt. The overall consistency of the Liquid players was lacking, leading to a convincing 13-5 victory for Shopify on Icebox.
With their unstoppable momentum, Shopify now advances to the Game Changers grand finals to face G2 Gozen. Both teams entered the finals as second-best in their respective regions, making this matchup an unexpected surprise for many. As they have yet to face each other in this tournament, tomorrow’s match will be a new test for both Shopify and G2.
