Sentinels Face Mid-Match Collapse in VALORANT Champions Tour Preseason
The preseason of the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour campaign has just begun, but Sentinels fans may already be feeling anxious about the upcoming year. In a recent showmatch against Moist x Shopify, Sentinels had a dominant win in the first map but then struggled on the following maps, leading to a one-vs-three clutch from MxS’ brawk that left everyone stunned.
The Sentinels compound was abuzz as the VCT Americas team took on Moist x Shopify in a best-of-three match. Org representatives and popular streamers Ludwig and tarik were also present to watch the series. However, after a strong win on Bind, Sentinels faltered on Ascent and Haven, ultimately resulting in the impressive performance from MxS’ brawk.
Sentinels’ star player TenZ showcased his versatility by taking on the flex role and adding Harbor to his agent pool. This allowed Sentinels to run the popular Harbor-Viper composition on Haven. Although Haven didn’t go as planned for Sentinels, TenZ performed admirably on the controller, leading his team in kills and assists.
During a recent interview with analyst and former coach Sean Gares, TenZ discussed his transition away from the entry role. He mentioned that playing as Jett earlier in his career had put him on the wrong path. TenZ expressed his excitement about his new agent pool, which allows him to showcase his creativity and embrace flash initiators and support agents that suit his playstyle.
On the other side of the server, this victory could be the start of a strong Challengers season for Moist x Shopify. They have now beaten Sentinels and have shown their potential in a previous showmatch against Cloud9. Without some in-game disruptions, MxS might have even won that match.
After the showmatch, Sentinels’ new in-game leader, Mouhamed “johnqt” Ouarid, tweeted that the match was fun but acknowledged that the team has some things to work on. Sentinels will face a tough lineup of preseason opponents in the coming weeks, starting with a match against new VCT Americas opponent G2 on Thursday, Oct. 26.
