Sentinels suffer defeat against BBG in Challengers One open qualifiers, commencing VCT’s second phase.

Sentinels Shockingly Eliminated in VALORANT Challengers One Open Qualifiers

In a surprising turn of events, Sentinels, the reigning Masters champions, were defeated in the open qualifiers of VCT stage two’s Challengers One event. They suffered a 13-5 loss on both maps, Ascent and Haven, against Built By Gamers.

BBG had a stand-in, Jake “POACH” Brumleve, who joined the team recently after Mike “pho” Panza was benched. POACH had an outstanding performance playing as Omen, along with teammate Tristan “Critical” Trinacty on Sova.

Post-game, BBG’s Joseph “Bjor” Bjorklund confirmed that POACH has also taken over the in-game calling. The team displayed confidence and performed well in their site retakes and pushes.

On the other hand, Sentinels did not display their usual dominance seen in Masters. They struggled with missed shots, late rotations, and losing opening duels throughout the series. They only managed to win one pistol round across both maps, while BBG quickly reclaimed the following round with a force buy.

With this victory, BBG has secured their spot in Challengers One, after not participating in any of the events in phase one. Sentinels will have to go through the open qualifiers once again for Challengers 2, and they will need to succeed there if they want a chance to qualify for Masters in Iceland.
