Jared “zombs” Gitlin Steps Down from Active Sentinels VALORANT Roster

Jared “zombs” Gitlin has announced his departure from the active roster of Sentinels VALORANT team, according to the organization.

Zombs will now be part of the inactive roster while exploring potential transfer opportunities or moving to content creation. He was one of the original members who joined Sentinels when they entered the VALORANT scene in April 2020. Currently, only Hunter “SicK” Mims and Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan remain from the initial roster (Michael “dapr” Gulino joined a month later).

As the primary controller player and a former pro in Apex and Overwatch, Zombs played a key role in Sentinels’ highly successful 2021 campaign. The team achieved victories at NA Masters One and Masters Two Reykjavík, made it to the playoffs in Masters Three Berlin, and secured a spot in VCT Champions 2021. However, their performance in the beginning of the 2022 season has been underwhelming, with a 3-2 record in the group stage of NA VCT Challengers One and an early exit from the playoffs, resulting in them missing an international event for the first time.

Recently, the team has been practicing without Zombs, and there have been discussions about former player Jay “sinatraa” Won potentially joining as a replacement. However, Sentinels is reportedly in talks to sign Eric “Kanpeki” Xu from the Akrew roster instead.

Kanpeki’s name has been listed under Sentinels’ team registration for the upcoming open qualifiers of NA VCT Challengers Stage Two. He would join ShahZaM, SicK, dapr, and Tyson “TenZ” Ngo for the first qualifier, scheduled to begin on April 28. The team currently has Kevin “Kez” Jeon listed as their manager, but they are actively searching for a full-time coach to fill that position.
