Sentinels’ dapr on Dealing with Toxic DMs and Death Threats: “It’s Just another Day for Me”

Sentinels’ dapr opens up about toxic DMs and death threats

Valorant professional player, Jared “dapr” Soares from Sentinels, recently shared his experience of receiving toxic direct messages (DMs) and death threats.

In a YouTube video released on dapr’s channel, he revealed the extent of the harassment he has faced in his gaming career. The video showcases some of the alarming messages he received, many of which were filled with hate and threats.

Dapr explained that while some criticism can be helpful for growth, the level of toxicity he has encountered is unwarranted and detrimental to mental health. He emphasized that pro players are also human and that such behavior can take a toll on their well-being.

Addressing the issue, dapr called for an end to this toxic mentality within the community. He urged fans and followers to be more supportive and understanding, stating that it is important to create a positive environment for everyone involved in the gaming community.

Sentinels’ team manager, Jared “Rated” Bambenek, expressed concern over the situation, stating that the organization takes such matters seriously. He reassured that the team is working to ensure the safety and well-being of their players, both online and offline.

To combat toxic behavior, Rated stressed the importance of reporting and blocking culprits who spread hate and threats. He also encouraged all players to come forward and share their experiences to shed light on the issue, in hopes of fostering change and promoting a healthier gaming community.

Dapr’s story is sadly not an isolated incident. Many professional esports players have faced similar situations, highlighting the urgent need for the industry to address this problem collectively.

The esports community as a whole must unite to condemn toxic behavior and create a safer and more positive environment for everyone involved. By educating players, fans, and organizations about the impact of toxic behavior, we can work towards a brighter future for esports.
