Sentinels Coach Reacts to VALORANT Analyst’s Critique of TenZ: “Nothing Surprising”

Sentinels Analyst Responds to Critique of TenZ

Drew “DrewSpark” Spark-Whitworth, an analyst for Sentinels, has responded to a video critique of their team member by Josh “Sideshow” Wilkinson, stating that it wasn’t anything new to them.

TenZ’s Journey in VALORANT

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, a talented VALORANT player for Sentinels, has faced his fair share of criticism throughout his career. From an unimpressive performance in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for Cloud9, to dominating the VALORANT scene with Sentinels, to experiencing a decline in his gameplay, he has heard it all. Sideshow, a former Overwatch League caster and current VALORANT analyst, recently provided a detailed critique of TenZ’s play, highlighting various areas where he was underperforming.

Sideshow’s video was well-produced, informative, and presented a strong argument. He also gave the coaching staff insight into the pain points he highlighted. When asked about the video, DrewSpark responded, saying, “I think most of the criticism is valid and well-detailed. I would like to see Josh make more videos like these about other players. I will also mention that there was nothing new to us in that video, and we have the complete context behind some of the specific points.”

Sentinels’ Performance and Future

Sentinels had high expectations for their rebuilt roster as they entered the first year of the VALORANT Champions Tour. However, they fell short, finishing seventh in the regular season, being eliminated in the first round of the LOCK//IN tournament, and ultimately failing to qualify for Champions. While Sentinels are considered one of the top teams in VALORANT, they still have a long way to go before achieving success in international tournaments. Despite their setbacks, Sentinels remains dedicated to TenZ and has retained him for the 2024 campaign.
