Sentinels’ CEO Offers Contract to Top Smash Melee Player Upon Zekken’s Victory in VALORANT Tournament

Sentinels CEO Teases Signing of Top Smash Melee Player Cody Schwab

In a recent development, Sentinels CEO Rob Moore has hinted at the possibility of signing renowned Smash Melee player Cody Schwab. However, there is a catch – Schwab will only be signed if Sentinels’ professional Valorant team emerges victorious in an upcoming tournament.

Conditions for Signing

The speculation began when Sentinels’ star Valorant player, Zachary “zekken” Patrone, shared a screenshot of his impressive ranked achievement on Twitter. Moore immediately responded, stating that he would sign Schwab if zekken manages to win the upcoming Sentinels Invitational.

Shortly before this, Moore shared a positive update regarding the organization’s funding via a tweet. He revealed that the ownership group had decided to invest an additional $3.4 million to enhance the existing divisions and expand into other esports sectors.

Interest from Cody Schwab

Reacting to Moore’s tweet, Schwab himself responded by inquiring if the organization would be interested in signing “arguably the best melee player in the world.” Additionally, zekken also joined in, urging Moore to sign Schwab.

The pieces seem to be falling into place, making it increasingly plausible for Sentinels to sign Schwab and enter the competitive Smash Melee scene.

Schwab was previously contracted with Counter Logic Gaming (CLG), which was acquired by NRG Esports in April 2023. However, all players except the League team were released during the process, leaving Schwab as a free agent.

It is worth noting that the Smash Melee scene doesn’t attract as much attention as Valorant, League, and Counter-Strike. Consequently, top esports organizations are generally less inclined to sign and nurture talented players in this particular domain.

Should Sentinels sign Cody Schwab, it would not only provide a significant boost to the Smash Melee esports community but also support one of the best Melee players and four-time Major winner in furthering his esports career, competing, and creating entertaining content for fans.

However, it is important to remember that nothing has been officially confirmed yet, so it is advisable to approach these internet conversations with caution.
